Why we started
Most book-lover merch plays it safe. We wanted shirts with a sense of humor and a little bit of strange: a raccoon who won't give your book back, a sasquatch in reading glasses, a raven who isn't talking because she's reading. Cozy, funny, sometimes a little dark, and made for people who take their reading seriously and themselves not so much.
What the name means
It carries two ideas. Moth: night, curiosity, the pull toward something you probably shouldn't get too close to. Cipher: a code, a hidden meaning, the sense that there's always more going on beneath the surface. Put together, Mothcipher is a mystery waiting to be decoded, which is exactly how it feels to fall into the right story at the right time.
